Following my previous post on the World Cup, I decided  what better way to support the Netherlands than to go to Amsterdam and get into the excitement. And ooohh boy, Amsterdam never fails! We arrived on Saturday and the city was bleeding orange and tourist (like usual). I went with Emma, she's American and my colleague from ZN and Frederic, he's French & have been a good friend in recent months  – both of whom despite my constant nagging for KFC have been really patient and fun to hang-out with during the weekend.

Amsterdam is one of my favorite city escape, given that it’s only 3 hours by train from Brussels. It’s my fifth time to be in Amsterdam – and each trip has been different from each other. It was rather more of a chill weekend than a heavy sightseeing one.  We’ve spent Saturday afternoon just walking around the city, taking a drinking / snack break almost every couple of hours (enjoying some Belgian beers in the middle). We went to a quick cruise of the Amsterdam canals, which this time, was quite fitting. We had dinner in an Indonesian restaurant (Indonesia was a former colony of the NL) which Fred had enjoyed the most. ; )

And for the night, it was - well - interesting. We ended up barhopping to almost 3-4 bars, having at least a pint of beer on each. We ended up in Melkweg - which was good have not we've been exhausted from the entire day. The other details, will be left unmentioned in this blog post.

We stayed in a quaint hotel – Hotel Museumzicht – which had this crazy steep stairs. It was 2 minutes walking from Museumplein which made it a perfect area to stay in.

The next day, we were too exhausted that we ended not doing anything at all but going to the Heineken museum - which I find a bit overpriced, though they manage to make the experience somewhat interesting for everyone.

We didn't stay there for the actual game since we have to work the next day and plus we were exhausted from the day before. And since the Netherlands ended up losing to Spain, thanks to Paul the Octopus, we didn't miss that much of the party.

    (yet again a delayed post)
